*Distinguished Speaker Series*
SLiCE presents Lee Daniels, Award winning director and producer

SLiCE is excited to present Lee Daniels, our first speaker in the Distinguished Speaker Series for 2011.  This event will be part of the campus-wide effort to celebrate Black History Month.  Daniels will speak about his incredible journey from a troubled childhood to becoming one of the most celebrated directors and producers in the film industry today.  Arguably, Daniels is best known for producing and directing the award winning film, Precious (2009). 

The main event will take place in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 7-8 p.m.  This event is free for students and $4 for the public.  Tickets are available at the box office or through CSUtix.  For more information, visit the event homepage on RamLink. 

In addition to the speaking event, GUIDE will be hosting a screening of the film in Braiden Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011 for all students

2nd Annual Officer Retreat

The purpose of the 2nd Annual Officer Retreat is to bring together students who either serve as officers for a student organization or aspire to do so.  During the two-day, overnight retreat in Estes Park, students will go through a series of interactive workshops and activities.  They will be encouraged to share information, ideas, and resources with one another to ensure the success of their organizations. 

All students are welcome to apply.  Food, lodging, and transportation are provided for free to all attendees.  For more information on the retreat, email Dylan.

Winter Gear Drive
Drop Donations at SLiCE Office

SLiCE is still collecting items for the winter gear drive to benefit Project Homeless Connect.  Bring any hygiene products and new or gently used winter gear, such as clothes, jackets, camping gear, gloves, etc. to the SLiCE office through February 4!

LeaderShape is a six-day institute designed to help students create their vision as a leader and put that vision into action.  With the end goal of positive change, students are encouraged to join us as they explore their core values while meeting other student leaders.

2011 ASCSU Elections Committee
Applications Available

ASCSU is looking for applicants for the 2011 Elections Committee. The Elections Committee is charged with boosting voter turn-out and overseeing the elections process for the ASCSU General Election. They are searching for students throughout the CSU community to help give different perspective to the committee.

Applications can be picked up at the ASCSU office and includes a description of the position. Applications are due by Thursday, February 10 by 5pm and all applicants must sign-up for an interview time at the ASCSU Front Desk. Applications can be turned in at the ASCSU Front Desk or emailed to Elections@ascsu.colostate.edu

President’s Leadership Program
Applications Available for 2011-12 Academic Year

In a global society where problems and solutions cross disciplines and borders, there is a critical need for effective leaders.  The President's Leadership Program (PLP) develops tomorrow's leaders through a series of academic courses and experiential learning activities that equip them with the knowledge, skills, and commitment to make positive change.

PLP is a three year, fourteen credit leadership development experience.  Each year of the program is an independent experience and students can choose to participate in one or more years.  Applications are available today!
