Special Needs Swim

Special Needs Swim is a program where student volunteers interact with community members -- both children and adults with a variety of disabilities. Each week students and their partners spend an hour in the pool for exercise, games and friendship. These sessions are oriented towards developing relationships, improving body coordination and skills, and most importantly having fun in the water! Participants gain exercise, friendships and increased awareness of issues concerning people with disabilities. Volunteers also meet to discuss and reflect on their service.
